Creativity, plants, and fun—one theme at a time!

We believe learning about plants should be hands-on, fun, and full of imagination! That’s why we’ve created a special monthly workshop series just for kids (but grown-ups can join too!).

Each month, we explore a brand-new theme—from dinosaur jungles to sparkling holiday ornaments. Kids get to use real plants, cool materials like moss, sand, and googly eyes, and go home with their very own living creation. No two workshops are the same!

We’ll teach a little bit about plant care, but the main focus is on creativity and fun. Whether it’s their first time or they’ve been before, kids will always have something new to build and take home.

Festive Air Plant Ornaments
December Workshop

Celebrate the joy of the season with our festive Air Plant Ornaments Workshop! In this creative holiday session, kids will design three unique ornaments using a mix of natural and decorative materials—from moss and mini pinecones to ribbons and sparkle accents. Each ornament features a Tillandsia (air plant) for a fresh, living touch that brings nature and cheer to your holiday décor. Perfect for young creators who enjoy plants, crafts, and a little seasonal sparkle!

These ornaments also make perfect handmade gifts for teachers, coaches, mentors, and other special role models.

Kids Kokedama
January Workshop

Kick off the new year with a hands-on plant adventure! In this creative workshop, kids will learn how to make their very own Kokedama—a Japanese-inspired “moss ball” planter that’s fun, simple, and exciting to build. Using soil, moss, and twine, young makers will shape and wrap their Kokedama step by step, creating a sculptural, living art piece to bring home.

Each child will choose a 2.5" plant suited for Kokedama from our kid-friendly selection, giving them the chance to express their creativity and build something truly unique. It’s a wonderful way to introduce children to plant care, offer a calming creative outlet, and spark curiosity about nature.

Mini Moss Landscapes
February Workshop

Celebrate February with a magical, hands-on plant adventure! In this creative workshop, kids will learn how to build their very own mini moss landscape—a Japanese-inspired project that lets them design a tiny world using living moss, small plants, stones, and natural materials. Working step by step, young creators will assemble their scene inside a small glass bowl, crafting a miniature “forest” they can proudly take home.

Each child will choose a small plant from our kid-friendly selection and learn how moss grows, how to arrange elements to create a balanced little landscape, and how to care for their living creation at home. It’s a fun and imaginative way to connect children with nature, encourage creativity, and spark a sense of wonder.

If you can’t make it to a workshop—no problem! While we can’t offer refunds, you’ll get store credit to use anytime at Foliage.

We need at least three participants for each workshop to run. If we don’t have enough sign-ups, we’ll reach out to reschedule or make a new plan together. Thanks so much for understanding!
